William Tunnel - was born in France just before the emigration of his father to Yorkshire, England.
His wife Anne Fairfax was ???? to the Fairfax family - she was called Lady Anne to the day of her death.
Tradition - record is silent as to any sons of this pair until about 1745. There may have been two reasons - the older children may have been daughters who marrying, lost the Tunnell name - or if there were sons - they may have died in infancy - there is some echo of a Fairfax Tunnell in those early Virginia years but the oldest son of whom I can speak with any certainty is Robert Tunnell born 1747 -
1740 (about) Emigrated to Spottsylvania Co., VA 2 miles east of Fredricksburg, VA
1755 (about) removed to Fairfax Co., VA not far from where Herndon now is - or not far from the great falls of the Potomac where he died - Dec 28 1787 - 85 years old
1787 - Died & buried in Fairfax Co., VA
