Military service: US Navy 1 JAN 1818, warrant as Midshipman, appointed by John Quincy Adams; US Navy 1820, lieutenant USS Peacock. Also served on the Franklin; on the Dolphin commanded by Captian D. Conner; on the Warren, the Grampus and the Sea Gull. John died at the age of 29 years and is buried in Ronaldson's Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.
Died of pulmonary consumption contracted by exposure in the Sea Gull, at which time he was a lieutenant
