2009-web searches show several books/documents re: George Balfour, but I am unable to pin down any direct biographical information except that he may have entered the military as early as 11 Apr 1792; on 9 Mar 1798 he becomes the 1st naval surgeon in the US Navy and probably was on the Constellation; in 1801 he was put in charge of the first Marine Hospital established in Norfolk, VA and he died between 1823 and 1830
