Penelope Pope Allen was born to Beverly and Penelope (Pope) Allen on 19 January 1841. Both of her parents were notable in the Women's Suffrage and Women's Rights movements of the day. Penelope and her sisters continued this work. On 16 June 1869 Penelope married John Cromwell Orrick in St. Louis, Missouri. John became a prominent attorney in St. Louis. He died in 1900. John and Penelope had a son and 3 daughters. The youngest daughter died in infancy. Penelope died in St. Louis on 31 Dec 1915.
