Biography

Thomas Glover Johns, always known simply as "Glover", was born 26 Aug 1855 in St. Charles, Missouri to John Jay and Jane Amanda Durfee Johns.

Glover grew to be tall and muscular, "with reddish brown hair and always ready for a fight". He taught his younger brother, George, to use his fists and defended him when the latter was in a tight place. [1]

Glover died 3 Dec 1881 of typhoid fever at the home of his sister, Lizzy Johns Gauss, in Sedalia, Missouri. "[He] remained a family legend of boyhood chivalry and courage."[2]
