JOHN BERNARD GAUSS, SR. was born on September 30, 1847 to Charles W. and L. Aletta Gauss in Missouri. He was married on November 10, 1875 in St. Louis, Missouri to Anna Herrmans.[1] John B. Gauss was a partner with William T. Gauss in the wholesale mercantile business until his death on October 5, 1886 in St. Louis Missouri. He is buried there in the Calvary Cemetery, 5239 W. Florissant (Gauss 1982). The children of John B. Gauss were all born in St Louis: Philip Gauss (10/1876-aft 1925), Charles Gauss (1/1879- ), Ralph Gauss (1/1881-12/2/1909 St Louis), Mabel Aleta Gauss (1882/84-90), and John Bernard Gauss, Jr. (1885/86-12/24/1914 Jefferson Co. TX [Certificate 24995]).
