Biographical sketch

JANE CRAWFORD (FAWCETT), the daughter of William Crawford, married Abner Fawcett on November 10, 1829 at her’ fathers home (Rockingham Co. VA Marriage Index). After her husband’s death (3/15/1835), she lived with her two daughters. B.K. Fawcett visited Jane Crawford and one daughter, Mrs. Fanny Hopkins, in Sept/Oct 1862 at their home in Langerville, Augusta County, Virginia. The other daughter (Nanny Fawcett)had recently died (summer 1862). James Crawford lived in Rockingham County still in 1862. He may have been her father or brother (Letter BK Fawcett to V Fawcett 3/2/1863). James Crawford owned 7 horses in Rockingham County in 1788 (Wayland 1930:98).
