Short Description Alfred Johns built his plantation, calling it Chevy Chase, near the present location of Clinton, Mississippi in Hinds County.

"Chevy Chase" was the name of the home place of a large and typical Southern family. It is situated fifteen miles north of Jackson, Mississippi, and thirty-five miles East of Vicksburg. Chevy Chase was known far and wide for its beautiful and picturesque views.

I have arbitrarily located Chevy Chase Plantation about 15 miles north of Jackson, Mississippi and 35 miles east of Vicksberg, near a creek. The plantation is gone, now, and this will have to do until I can find out more information. --SDC
