Obituary

GAUSS -- Lorraine Gauss, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2005 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Bill; five children; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family is scattered from California to Florida to eastern Canada. She was born in Hazard, KY and grew up in Huntington, WV. She met Bill, an Air Force officer, while working at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. They lived on many Air Force bases in Dayton, OH, Austin, TX, Belleville, IL, Wiesbaden, Germany, and Washington, DC, winding up at Kirtland AFB in June 1962. She was a perfect military wife, always ready for adventure and travel. She was very active in her church and in the women's clubs at each base and received acclaim and recognition for her efforts. She loved golfing and has the distinction of making the only hole-in-one by a family member. Friends and family loved her gatherings because of her gourmet cooking and her flair for entertaining. Her lifetime was devoted to thinking of others. She took an interest in everyone she met and had a way of making each person feel special. Her positive attitude and enthusiasm for life never wavered in spite of her ailments. She said, "my faith and my family are my priorities." Her graciousness, personality and love for life are missed. Services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 3:00 p.m., French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel on Saturday, 2:00 p.m. until service.
