Letter

Boone Co. Dec. 21st 1900.

My dear Minna

You may be sure I was surprised when your letter came -- I had no idea you could write a letter, you must be a bright girl to learn so fast, and Miss Hughes must be a good teacher, I am glad you like her, it is not pleasant to go to school when one does not like the teacher ----- The kitties are doing finely ----- They come running when they her the seperator and uncle Eugene is kind to them and gives them all the mik they can drink -- We have two stray cats now, tow great ugly things not begining to be pretty like Prince and Snowball. The dogs are all right -- Eugene says Yellow pup is a very fine dog -- all I know about him is that he can eat more than any dog I ever saw ---- You will be pleased to learn that Old Jack has improved very much, he seldom holds up his foot now, and you darkie says he is getting fat ---- Aunt Lucretia thinks as you do, that horses are the best and cleanest animals we have, they sometimesget in her yard but they do not trouble any thing just eat the grass, but let a cow or a calf get in and her flowers are bitten off and pots broken ---

Matt must have had the toothache if he went to the dentist, if it was a bad tooth it is best to have it out --

I hope you all will have a pleasant Christmas - we will have a quiet one. I am sometimes lonesome and wish you were here to talk to me -- write soon.
