DUNNINGTON, Guy Waldo (1906 - 1974)
From Gauss and his Children

- a.k.a. G. Waldo Dunnington
Biographical Information
Guy Waldo Dunnington was a major biographer of Carl Friedrich Gauss. He mentions in one of his books the fact that his interest in Gauss was sparked by one of his elementary school teachers, Minna Gauss Reeves, who introduced her students to her grandfather, the mathematician. Dunnington was a professor of the German language. He had a life-long fascination with Gauss, and collected what is considered to be the largest collection of material on Gauss in the world, now housed at Northwestern University of Louisiana. Some of this material was obtained from people on this site; William T. Gauss of Colorado Springs was also a prodigious collector of family documents, and he made major contributions to Dunnington's collection. Anne Durfee Gauss and Minna Gauss Reeves also made contributions.
G. Waldo Dunnington was a translator at the Nuremberg Trials[1]
