Biography

Guy Chambless was born 10 Jul 1892 in Glen St. Mary, Florida to Israel Ezekiel Chambless and Carrie Horne. He grew up in Wauchula, Florida. His father was a carpenter, and Guy became one, too. He served in WWI, then returned to Florida. He traveled throughout the United States, including Noble, Illinois where he met and married Betty Sanderson. They had two sons, Bob and Joe and although they were separated during the depression (the 1930 census shows Guy in Cinncinatti, while Betty and Children remained in St. Petersburg), the family joined Guy in Cinncinnati. Later they moved back to Florida, and lived in Homestead, where Guy built their house on Krome Avenue with his own hands. Around 1960, Guy and Betty moved back to Wauchula, where Guy built another house, where he died 22 Jun 1969.
